Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:1. Describe the motivations and drivers behind international trade, investment, financing and dividend decisions;
2. Analyse agency problems and assess corporate governance structures;
3. Explain various exchange rate regimes and analyse their impact on international trade and investments;
4. Describe the functions of financial markets with a particular emphasis on foreign exchange markets;
5. Analyse types of risks particularly associated with international trade and investments; and
6. Evaluate risks and returns in the context of foreign direct investments.

Special assessment requirements
In order to get Pass or higher grade in this unit, you will need to
Attempt all the items of assessment, AND
Receive 45 marks out of 100 marks in the final exam, AND
Receive 50% aggregate marks.
Failure to submit assessment item: If you fail to submit your assessment items by the due dates because of illness, misadventure or unavoidable commitments, please discuss the matter with the unit convener before the due date or as soon as possible thereafter. You will be required to provide appropriate documentary evidence.
