Candidates will be required to undertake original research resulting in a significant contribution to knowledge and/or the application of knowledge within a particular area of specialisation within the fields of communication, cultural studies and information studies. Students may be required to undertake graduate coursework subjects, especially in communication or information research methods, at the discretion of their supervisor. The work is expected to include systematic and searching reviews of the relevant literature, clear statements of aims and objectives, explication of the methodology of research, and a critical application of communication or information studies theories to the topic under investigation. The product may incorporate a substantial creative component.
