A candidate will be required to undertake an original research project resulting in a significant contribution to knowledge or understanding and/or the application of knowledge within a designated area of study within the broad field of Education. The work will include a searching review of the literature, some experimentation or other systematic approach to the acquisition of knowledge and the preparation of a substantial and well-ordered thesis demonstrating a thorough understanding of the state of knowledge in the designated area of study for the research project and the relationship of the research to the broader framework of the field of study of Education.

- Identify and refine of a specific and significant area of research interest in education consistent with the identified Faculty Topic.
- Review and critique of the existing literature leading to the formulation of a research problem and questions.
- Design an appropriate investigation for application to the research problem and write research proposal
- Effectively communicate their research in introductory and confirmation seminars within the faculty
