Disability Governance, Quality Frameworks and Compliance G (12307.1)

To improve service quality, participant and workplace safety, and service experience within the NDIS, there is a push to improve service standards and oversight while supporting choice and control by participants. NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is intensifying its market oversight to identify trends, service delivery issues, and quality concerns. This unit explores governance principles and compliance practices in the NDIS, with a focus on accountability and regulatory alignment. The unit introduces students to new practice standards for program development, consistent assessment approaches and skills to develop quality frameworks specific to NDIS, with a focus on balancing government best practice and participant lived experience. Through this unit, students learn to apply their knowledge of NDIS frameworks to recipients of NDIS services.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Examine the impact of NDIS governance, quality frameworks and compliance on provider accountability and quality;
2. Critically analyse and evaluate NDIS-specific quality and safeguarding standards, including their strengths, limitations and impacts on participant rights and lived experience; and
3. Apply current assessment approaches, skills and practice standards to evaluate and improve organisational compliance within NDIS service delivery contexts, including program development.
