Vocal Skills (12271.1)

In this unit, learners work toward increased refinement of vocal flexibility and strength, which allows their voices to sustain them throughout the challenges of work in the performing arts industry. The students will explore and develop a free voice by performing a wide variety of texts and will extend their understanding of essential voice training methodologies. The students will refine their vocal technique through extensive exploration of vocal range and the presentation of a variety of performance contexts, including voice acting and voice-over.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Employ vocal training techniques at a developed basic level;
2. Apply the key techniques of vocal training to the performance of voice acting and voice-over;
3. Apply learned vocal technique when speaking and performing a variety of dramatic and literary texts; and
4. Apply communication skills in an academic/creative context.
