Whether you're a corporate communicator or a content creator, a brand manager or a journalist, something that every communication and media professional has in common is the need to engage, inform, and entertain with quality media. In this unit, you will produce audiovisual and multimedia products, considering how best to tailor your communication for different audiences and platforms, and how your work interacts with emerging technologies and trends. In response to a series of task briefs linked to real-world industry scenarios, and working both independently and in teams, you will be guided through the creation of products from design to delivery.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Create audiovisual and digital multimedia products for a range of target audiences;
2. Select and use narrative, storytelling and engagement techniques appropriate to different platforms;
3. Apply basic project management principles in the successful delivery of work to a brief; and
4. Work autonomously and collaboratively in the production of quality work, demonstrating an appreciation of the importance of both modes in professional communication and media contexts.

Artificial intelligence

Students are not permitted to use generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in assessments for this unit.

GenAI may only be used in authorised ways when completing assessments at UC. This means that GenAI can only be used for an assessment when:

  1. the Unit Convener has authorised GenAI use for that assessment
  2. the student uses GenAI in the way that the assessment instructions allow
  3. the student fully acknowledges their use of GenAI, with proper citations, references and a GenAI Acknowledgement Statement in line with the assessment instructions.

Where the assessment instructions do not specifically state that GenAI may be used and how, then its use is not permitted for that assessment. Students must still provide the required GenAI Acknowledgement Statement to indicate whether GenAI has or has not been used in the preparation of the assessment. If unsure, students should seek advice from the Unit Convener.
