This unit builds upon the learning in Science of Learning 1, through an analytical appraisal of the impact of the implementation of the Science of Learning pedagogy within a classroom, school, or system. The focus moves from reflecting and reviewing Science of Learning pedagogic practice to implementing and evaluating those practices. Teachers and school leaders report on the learning that has been developed through the professional learning that underpins this unit. This unit builds classroom teacher and school leadersÂż skills in data analysis and interpretation, promoting the use of data to drive improved student outcomes and purposeful change. There is an expectation that the learning will be celebrated through shared practice, providing teachers and schools in the wider Science of Learning community the opportunity to identify skills and processes that have been successfully applied. Additionally, the unit further develops skills in communication, reflection, and evaluation to enable educators to implement and sustain pedagogic change to improve student outcomes.
1. Synthesise and distil the principles of the pedagogy of scientific teaching and learning practices through the lens of specific school roles;
2. Conceptually map the systems and processes that will be employed to embed changes in pedagogical practice in school-based contexts; and
3. Analyse and communicate the impact implementation of scientific teaching and learning pedagogic practices has on professional practice and student outcomes.
