Digital Health Systems and Nursing PG (12107.1)

This unit will develop students' understanding of digital health and delivery, with a particular input from a nursing perspective. Nursing digital literacy, design and project delivery skills are a focus of this unit. The unit uses local, national, and international digital health project exemplars to explore best practice and trends in the digital space.
In this unit, students will explore technology enhanced innovation and digital health modalities that influence care delivery, health outcomes and research at the individual, community, and population level. Students will engage with current practice in digital health project delivery in the nursing space, current trends and key issues faced nationally and internationally.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Explore online communication techniques and therapeutic relationships in technology enhanced healthcare environments;
2. Identify the role that digital health systems have in informing and changing healthcare practice, including public health approaches;
3. Demonstrate the ability to monitor and evaluate the delivery and impact of digital health projects;
4. Demonstrate ability to assess and support the growth of digital capabilities against the National Nursing and Midwifery Digital Health Capability Framework;
5. Examine the key trends nationally and internationally in the digital health space in Nursing and Midwifery and analyse the current impacts and changes; and
6. Explore and analyse digital health modalities and research driven innovation that improve equity and health outcomes for individuals and communities.
