The unit provides professional social work experiences in a range of settings that may include health, aged care, community services, child and family welfare, mental health, community work, research, policy, and planning. In this unit, students will complete their final supervised 500-hour (incudes compulsory 14 hours of integrated seminars) placement demonstrating professional skills, knowledge, and values at the level of professional competency at the levels required by the Australian Association of Social Workers Practice Standards.
1. Form, develop and maintain professional and ethical relationships with service users, key stakeholders, and colleagues within a human service;
2. Demonstrate and critically reflect on professional communication in practice with service users, carers, colleagues and other key stakeholders;
3. Demonstrate use of social work knowledge, values and skills are required for a beginning practitioner; and
4. Engage actively in professional supervision and identify learning needs as a new social work practitioner.
