This unit is designed to enable early childhood teachers to build their knowledge and confidence around supporting children's behaviour within the early childhood setting. The unit focuses on research-based strategies for understanding the underlying reasons for behaviours and how to best support children in early childhood education and care settings. The content includes understanding what behaviour is and how it can be presented; learning about the physiology responses when extreme behaviour occurs; and learning how to apply strategies within our teaching approaches and learning environments to support children's behaviours.
1. Analyse the physiological and emotional responses of a child during complex behaviours;
2. Describe and apply strategies within an inclusive setting for individual children and groups; and
3. Evaluate a range of behaviour supports that can be provided to children to support teachers, families, and children.
