Musculoskeletal Interventions 1 PG (11985.2)

This unit introduces students to physiotherapy management in disorders of the peripheral joints of the human musculoskeletal system following a patient-centred approach. Students will study the pathophysiology and orthopaedic management of common musculoskeletal disorders. Students will learn the clinical reasoning and practical skills required for assessment and intervention.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Apply comprehensive integrated knowledge of foundational principles of musculoskeletal anatomy, biomechanics, and pathophysiology to critically assess and manage peripheral conditions;
2. Independently conduct safe, effective, and adaptable clinical assessments using hypothetico-deductive reasoning to support diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and management planning;
3. Critically synthesise assessment findings with current best evidence to justify clinical decisions and evaluate treatment options in contextually relevant care;
4. Rationalise effective treatment planning through robust clinical reasoning, prioritising clinical problems, applying evidence based strategies, evaluating outcomes, and integrating interprofessional perspectives; and
5. Incorporate understanding of the impact of cultural identify, values, and lived experience in culturally responsive and person-centred care.
