Integrating Maternity Practice (11955.1)

This practice unit will support the integration of knowledge and skills in the provision of holistic care for women in diverse contexts across the childbearing continuum. Students will lead care in partnership with women using initiative and judgement to plan, problem solve and make decisions within a midwifery continuity of care model. Students will substantially increase their competence in meeting the NMBA Midwife standards for practice.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Integrate midwifery cognitive and technical skills within a continuity of care model across the childbearing continuum;
2. Achieve a satisfactory WIL level as evidenced by completion of the practice portfolio; and
3. Coordinate and negotiate woman-centred care in collaboration with women and the health care team.
