This unit will provide you with a foundational understanding of Sport Media and its platforms in the content, audiences, and reporting contexts. You will investigate-to-understand the nexus between Sport Media and the Typology of Sport in a range of sport phenomena to develop and discover news ways to research, report, and publish for sport customers. Case study investigations in sport advocacy, relationship building, and comprehending rights and responsibilities will assist in establishing an underpinning intelligence of Sport Media and its place in all of sport.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Write basic sports news stories, match previews, and match reports;
2. Complete basic and advanced research for a sports news story and verify information gathered to ensure accuracy;
3. Interview sporting personalities to create news content; and
4. Analyse sports news content produced for a range of purposes and audiences.
