The Advanced Topics in Building and Construction Information Management presents and demonstrates the latest technology advances in the digital built environment industry that utilise BIM applications. This unit follows the basic BIM units and takes steps further into the Industry 4.0 practices. Various advanced topics such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), digital twin, laser scanning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are discussed and synthesised in the construction projects lifecycle using case studies and tutorials.
1. Appraise the principles of Industry 4.0 and investigate the practical implications for digital design, construction and operation;
2. Synthesise the advanced and state-of-the-art knowledge, skills and practices to operationalise the digitally integrated built environment; and
3. Design advanced digital solutions for complex construction problems and implement research-based and best practice strategies for problem solving.
