Human Rights Law PG (11758.1)

This unit provides students with an understanding of the domestic and international human rights law frameworks, as well as the interaction between the two. It considers key instruments of human rights law and examines in some detail the key institutions and processes that provide juridical oversight in the human rights sphere. It also considers a number of contemporary human rights issues from the perspective of human rights law and institutions.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Analyse and apply norms of human rights law as arising out of the domestic and international human rights frameworks;
2. Identify appropriate solutions applied to complex real-world human rights scenarios and challenges; and
3. Apply advanced skills of legal communication, research, writing and advocacy, and legal problem solving.
