This unit examines the role of employee voice in organisational communication. Employee voice is often framed in conflict with organisation leadership. This unit explores contemporary challenges in the postmodern workplace for organisational culture, maintaining employee loyalty, and facilitating change. Students learn contemporary methods and media used for organisational communication and employee engagement.
1. Identify and summarise the role of employee voice, agency and engagement in organisational communication;
2. Recognise and respond to a range of contemporary institutional, political and cultural issues in organisational communication;
3. Demonstrate a critical understanding of organisational communications practices in change management contexts; and
4. Articulate the importance and influence of organisational relationships and the role of leadership in communication practice.
