Communication Trends and Innovation G (11630.1)

Organisations in the competitive global marketplace are constantly looking for ways to manage disruption and capitalise on opportunity.

In this unit students will be exposed to the latest 'live' communication trends and innovations from professional contexts. Students will engage with industry and academic experts, including academics from the University of Canberras News and Media Research Centre. Students will track and evaluate contemporary technological, social and economic trends and then apply this knowledge to real-world scenarios. Students will develop innovative thinking skills and will be working at the leading edge in the communication and media field.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Assess and articulate how trends are used to drive communication innovation for optimal practice;
2. Interpret and intellectually engage with theoretical and practical applications of media communication; and
3. Investigate a l 'live' communication trend and judge its relevance and impact to a specified field or industry.
