Artificial intelligence
Guided - Students will be guided in how GenAI must/may be used in completing the assessment as detailed in the unit outline and assessment instructions. More detailed information can be found at GenAI and Assessment at UC
Special assessment requirements
Students are permitted to use Studiosity Writing Feedback Plus to seek feedback on drafts of their assessments, but not for the writing itself. Please note that the University of Canberra has enabled the Turnitin AI Writing detection tool.
GenAI may only be used for visualisation purposes for Assessment item A03 [Design] in which case design process work that was not produced using GenAI should be included (as part of the submission or as an appendix), and the submission must include the relevant prompts used. It must be used in accordance with the University of Canberra's Artificial Intelligence position 2025 - see 2025 Artificial Intelligence position (including GenAI) - and all students must include the required GenAI Acknowledgement Statement in their assessment submission to indicate whether GenAI has or has not been used in the preparation of the assessment.
Students must apply academic integrity in their learning and research activities at UC. This includes submitting authentic and original work for assessments and properly acknowledging any sources used.

Participation requirements
The skills necessary to complete this unit will be developed during the weekly tutorials. As such, in order to succeed in this unit it is expected that every student attends all weekly tutorial sessions.
Required IT skills
No specific IT skills are required, however a basic working knowledge of 2D CAD drawing, 3D Modeling, vector graphic manipulation, image post-production and interaction with data (spreadsheets) will be advantageous.
In-unit costs
The unit will use printed drawings for some presentations. There will also be a minor cost per student for a subscription to a required AI platform. Students should carefully plan their work to make use of printing facilities to reduce costs incurred.
