Learning outcomes
After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:1. Interact with open-source mapping systems and Geographic Information System (GIS) data;
2. Use and extend simple code-based (algorithmic) techniques to graphically interrogate maps, datasets and images;
3. Establish formal relationships between latent and emergent urban data; and
4. Develop compelling and creative visualisations of complex urban relationships and phenomena.

Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence is not allowed to be used in this unit unless expressly stated in the weekly task or assessment.

Participation requirements
The skills necessary to complete this unit will be developed during the weekly computer lab sessions (tutorials). As such, in order to succeed in this unit it is expected that every student attends all weekly computer lab session.
Required IT skills
No specific IT skills are required however a basic working knowledge of 2D CAD drawing, 3D Modeling, vector graphic manipulation, image post-production and interaction with data (spreadsheets) advantageous.
The skills necessary to complete this unit will be developed during the weekly tutorials and further supported by self-paced videos made available on the unit's CANVAS site. At the completion of this unit, students will:
> Be able to work between data sources and CAD environments.
> Automate simple tasks using custom custom visual programming techniques.
> Be confident working between CAD environments and graphic software to produce creative and effective urban representations.
> Develop innovative and creative maps and urban visualisations using a range of media techniques and strategies
> Critical and deliberatese of image based generative AI.
In-unit costs
The unit will use printed drawings (up to A1) for all presentations. Students should carefully plan their work to make use of Workshop7's printing facilities to reduce costs incurred.
