Professional Evidence (Government and Policy) (11237.2)

This is the capstone unit of both the Bachelor of Politics and International Relations and the Bachelor of Social and Economic Policy. The unit will normally be undertaken in the student's final semester of study. The unit covers the following three areas: Leadership, critical thinking, and effective communication in verbal and written contexts. Taking a contemporary policy issue as a case study, the unit will provide student with the opportunity to draw together their learning from both the academic content and professional practice undertaken during their course. Students will choose their own policy issue and learn how to present a persuasive case for their position as well as how to effectively refute rebuttal arguments against it.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate career-readiness, a clear professional identity, and insight into the skills, knowledge and personal attribute necessary to meet the standards of performance and practice expected by their profession;

Prerequisites

11010 Professional Orientation (Commerce) OR 11011 Professional Orientation (Business) OR 11012 Professional Orientation (Government and Policy) OR 11507 Professional Orientation (Fundamentals) OR 9799 Foundations of Professional Planning AND
Students must have passed at least 48 credit points OR permission required from the unit convener.
