Use of Text-Matching Software
The University of Canberra uses text-matching software to help students and staff reduce plagiarism and improve understanding of academic integrity. The software matches submitted text in student assignments against material from various sources: the internet, published books and journals, and previously submitted student texts.
Participation requirements
Attending the three and a half filming workshops (Weeks 2-6) is vital for students taking this unit, as the films made during these workshops are assessable.
Attending the shorter (two-hour) tutorials (weeks 7 & 9) is also vital, as the information gained in these tutorials allows students to complete the final assessment.
As students are working in small groups and handling camera gear, there will be industry Safety Procedures in place that students will be guided in and must adhere to.
Students who attend campus for class or other purposes must play their part in keeping our campus and community safe by following these basic guidelines to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission:
- Practice good hand hygiene, washing hands regularly;
- If you do happen to cough or sneeze, please do so into the crook of your elbow, dispose of tissues immediately and wash hands immediately
- Practice effective physical distancing;
- Follow all directions of teaching and other UC staff regarding safety measures;
- Stay off campus if you are unwell and get tested according to ACT Government guidelines, and

There is an expectation that students have basic film, lighting, editing and sound recording skills to begin this unit.

Consider the cost of a quality external hard drive to store your camera data and edit material safely.

Additional information
All filming involves logistics and health and safety considerations. As such, a safety report needs to be completed before each film shoot that is taken outside of class time. The safety report document can be found on the Canvas Site.
