This unit explores the enduring connections that Indigenous Australians and other Indigenous people around the world maintain with the land and the sea. The unit discusses Indigenous understandings of country, homeland, and place, in urban, regional and remote settings. The heritage significance and values of Indigenous constructs of space and connections to country will be explored, along with discussions on how looking after country is critical to the health and well-being of Indigenous people.
1. Analyse and explain the diversity of Indigenous ways of knowing and connecting to landscapes and seascapes;
2. Evaluate key issues with Indigenous heritage and cultural landscapes; and
3. Identify and analyse Indigenous senses of belonging.
