Landscape Architecture Documentation (11034.1)

Conventions for documenting projects for construction and contracts associated with project delivery are shared across the architectural design sector, however, with its focus on outdoor spaces, particular elements like plants & topography, and its scale, landscape architecture is different. This unit synthesises the technical skills and knowledge required to become a graduate Landscape Architect.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Produce a set of documentation drawings for a landscape architecture project;
2. Interpret a basic construction contract; and
3. Interpret and analyse the contractual relationship between consultants, clients and contractors.

Skills development

At the conclusion of this Unit students will have an appreciation of what is required to realise the design concept ‘on the ground’. 

Through a series of lectures, studio workshops, site visits and independent research, students will consider the contractual methods and preparation of design documentation necessary to deliver the design intent. Students will have to evaluate the implications and merits of the various methods and documents on the process of implementing the design. Students  will learn how to produce a documentation package that forms the basis of a landscape construction contract.
