Submission of assessment items
Special assessment requirements
Students must complete the online Academic Integrity Module (AIM) before they can access the assessment items via the assessment module on the Canvas site. This means you will not be able to submit your assessments until you have completed the AIM.
Academic integrity
Students have a responsibility to uphold University standards on ethical scholarship. Good scholarship involves building on the work of others and use of others' work must be acknowledged with proper attribution made. Cheating, plagiarism, and falsification of data are dishonest practices that contravene academic values. Refer to the University's Student Charter for more information.
To enhance understanding of academic integrity, all students are expected to complete the Academic Integrity Module (AIM) at least once during their course of study. You can access this module within UCLearn (Canvas) through the 'Academic Integrity and Avoiding Plagiarism' link in the Study Help site.
Use of Text-Matching Software
The University of Canberra uses text-matching software to help students and staff reduce plagiarism and improve understanding of academic integrity. The software matches submitted text in student assignments against material from various sources: the internet, published books and journals, and previously submitted student texts.
Participation requirements
There is a significant link between student participation and the quality of learning outcomes demonstrated in submitted assignments. Students are expected to attend or view the lectures, and to attend and actively participate in the tutorial and seminar sessions to achieve the learning outcomes of this unit.
Students should be conscious that the final e-portfolio assignment includes submission of materials that will be completed in class.
Students are expected to regularly check the Canvas site and their university email for new information, readings and pre-tutorial activities relevant to the unit.
Required IT skills
Use of standard word processing, email, image processing and presentation software (such as Powerpoint) is required.
Students are expected to learn to use the university's Mahara e-portfolio platform, and will be expected to participate in some online activities using platforms such as Virtual Room (Blackboard Collaborate) or Zoom.
