Humans as Occupational Beings 2 (10311.2)

This unit explores the diverse occupational needs of adults across the lifespan, with an emphasis on supporting occupational participation and wellbeing. Through case-based learning and applied practice scenarios students will apply the occupational therapy process to assess, plan, and implement evidence-informed interventions for adults in various life roles and settings, including home, work, and community environments. With reference to contemporary capability and competency practice evidence, students will examine the impact of societal, cultural, and environmental influences¿such as policy, stigma, and access to services¿on occupational participation.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Interpret the occupational needs of adults;
2. Critically apply the occupational therapy process to address occupational participation of adults; and
3. Examine contextual influences on the occupational participation of adults to better practice cultural safety with diverse communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Corequisites

Must be enrolled in 373JA Bachelor of Occupational Therapy.
