In this unit, students will be introduced to leadership theories and perspectives, and begin to explore these different approaches and what they mean for business performance. In particular, students will explore traditional and emergent leadership styles, organisational culture, power, global leadership and the development of leaders.

This unit is delivered online, requiring students to self-manage their work load, developing many skills required of graduates.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Define fundamental concepts of leadership;
2. Describe the relationship between personality traits and business performance;
3. Articulate the role of cultural difference within a workplace;
4. Demonstrate an understanding of leadership principles and practices needed within modern and global organisations, and
5. Identify various leadership theories and perspectives and their effects on business.

To pass this unit, students must obtain an aggregate mark of 50% or more.
