Clinical Sonography PG (Part B) (10168.1)

This unit is the culmination of the depth and breadth of the coursework in the Master of Medical Ultrasound. Students will continue work commenced in the unit Clinical Sonography PG (Part A). In that unit students focused on an ultrasound clinical examination or anatomical region according to their own professional interest and commenced work towards mastery of knowledge and clinical skill in that chosen ultrasound speciality. Working with academic and clinical supervisors, the students will finalise their clinical portfolio of their work in that area. An exegesis, with a focus on the ultrasound clinical examination or anatomical region chosen, will also be finalised under the guidance of an academic supervisor.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Produce a clinical portfolio to a standard acceptable within the profession;
2. Produce a scholarly piece of work in the form of an exegesis; and
3. Demonstrate expertise in a specialised area of medical ultrasound.

Clinical Sonography PG (Part A), 10167.

Corequisites

Enrolment in Master of Medical Ultrasound.

Assumed knowledge

A high level of medical ultrasound skills and knowledge and work that was commence in the unit Clinical Sonography PG (Part A). Students must be practicing clinical sonographers.
