Submission of assessment items

Extensions & Late submissions

All assignments are required to be submitted by the due date. If, for any reason, you are unable to do an assignment by the due date you must submit, to the lecturer or your tutor, a request for an extension in writing before the due date (except in special cases considered reasonable to the tutor). The request must set out, in detail, the genuine and exceptional reason for requesting the extension. If there is a medical reason for the extension request it must be accompanied by a medical certificate (see below).

Medical certificates. Your medical certificate must clearly state:

  • That you were unfit to complete the assignment;
  • The date of the medical consultation;
  • The period during which you were/are/will be unfit; and
  • The severity of your illness.

As an integral part of the learning theory that underpins this unit, students may be asked to re-submit their written assignments if the lecturer and /or tutor decide that the quality of work submitted is not at a reasonable standard that would, as a minimum, gain a Pass level grade. This request will be given in close consultation with the student. There will be no re-submissions after week 14 of the Semester. Note that a re-submitted assignment can only get a Pass or Fail.

If there is any doubt with regarding the requirements of any particular assignments or assessment procedure, the onus for clarifying the issue rests with the student who should contact the lecturer about the matter. Tutors will also be happy to assist in this regard.

In order to gain a Pass grade in this unit you must:

  • Gain a total overall mark of at least 50% and
  • Have no outstanding assessment

 

In order to obtain higher grades in this unit you must achieve the following total:

  •  65 – 74% for CR
  •  75 – 84% for DI
  •  85% and above for HD

Attendance at class is mandatroy. You must attend 80% of your classes.

Required IT skills

This unit involves the use of our learnonline system Canvas where assignments are posted and other activities are conducted. Students need a computer or laptop to complete this unit. And sometimes students may be asked to attend class online via zoom or Virtual Room. Students need a working microphone (preferably headset for better quality) and a working webcam. Please test this equipment to ensure it is working. 

In-unit costs

You are expected to bring pens and notebook to class. Please bring a laptop if you have one as well. If you do not won a laptop please let the class teacher know so they can help you access Wellbeing.
