Coursework component of the PhD

Students enrolled in a coursework integrated PhD (referred to as the standard entry PhD), need to enrol in coursework units to the value of 12 credit points. This coursework is designed to provide a practical, solid grounding for new students and units need to be chosen accordingly.

The coursework component has to be undertaken over the first year of the PhD (or first two years part time). Students can choose to complete all the required coursework in a single semester, or enrolled concurrently with research units and complete the coursework over two semesters.

The coursework unit selection should be decided in discussion with your primary supervisor. Coursework enrolment will typically include research methods and/or design units and discipline specific units appropriate to your research project and development needs.
