Areas of Research
The Human-Centred Technology Research Centre endeavours to perform world-class research that puts the human user at the centre of the technology development. Researchers at HCT undertake fundamental and applied research into the nature, creation and use of technology that enables people in all walks of life to take knowledgeable, well-informed and responsible actions. The HCT Research Centre focuses on technology research that assists humans in their life and learning, that supports them in their health and well-being, that enables them to perform and communicate better, that allows them to be more secure, and that empowers them to achieve their goals.
Affect (emotions, mood) is an essential, integral part of human perception and interaction. Affective Computing aims to give computers the ability to recognise affective states, to express emotions (e.g. avatar), to have "emotional intelligence" in order to make better decisions.
The Computational Intelligence, Knowledge and Data Mining (CIKADA) research area pursues inter-disciplinary research in computational intelligence and knowledge discovery to model and simulate real-world problems.
Multimodal Systems and Information Fusion (mSiF) Research Group is a highly interdisciplinary group with an interest in intelligent multimodal processing of
image, video, speech, text, and sensor signals for a wide range of applications.
The mission of the Wireless Sensing Network group is to advance innovative and groundbreaking research in the area of Communications Networks and Systems Engineering.
