Neurological Rehabilitation Clinic
University of Canberra Faculty of Health Clinics is now offering an ongoing exercise and skills program for people with neurological conditions and balance difficulties including:
- Parkinson's disease
The neurological rehabilitation clinic was established due to a growing body of evidence that suggests physiotherapy and exercise can improve mobility, balance and health related quality of life in people with neurological conditions. The program is designed to work on each person's specific needs and consists of an individual assessment and twice-weekly exercise classes. Classes are student led and supervised by University of Canberra physiotherapists. The class is an enjoyable way to exercise and includes.
- Balance training
- Walking and turning practice
- Strengthening exercises
- Strategies to help manage freezing
- Doing more than one thing at a time
Prior to attending a class each person has an initial assessment to identify their specific goals and needs. Please call for an appointment.
- Classes are held Monday to Thursday
The clinic provides a student led service at a minimal cost ($30 or $20 for concession rate), exercise classes cost $5 per class.
As services are provided by students under supervision, no rebate is available through private health funds, Medicare or third party providers.
