Specialist Major in Accounting (SM0016.1)

The Major in Accounting aims to provide students with a transformative educational experience to produce highly competent, work-ready graduates with in-depth discipline knowledge, professional and technical skills and attributes to work as socially responsible accounting professionals in the private and public sectors.
Through a range of practical, interdisciplinary real world learning experiences, graduates will have well-developed skills in communication, networking, cross-cultural awareness and teamwork - future proofing UC's graduates to be able to adapt and contribute to the future of the 'knowledge society'.
Graduates of this course will be able to commence professional study programs with the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand and CPA Australia.
Students taking this major will complete a series of carefully integrated units in financial accounting, management accounting, auditing and finance.
Specialist majors are only available to students in the course for which the major is required.
Note: - Must note the following
- 4. Completion of the 39cp major will enable students to meet the educational requirements of the Tax Practitioners Board in addition to that of CPA and CAANZ.
- 3. Students seeking CAANZ and CPA Australia accreditation must complete the 33cp major.
- 1. Students undertaking the 24cp major are NOT eligible for CAANZ or CPA Australia accreditation, unless they are enrolled in and complete MGSC01 Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Laws.
- 2. Students in MGSC01 Bachelor of Commerce/ Bachelor of Laws must also complete unit 11293 Taxation Law.
