In the music industry, composition is the major source of income generation, with a global royalty system which favours songwriters and composers. With the explosion of digital, visual media, there has never been such a demand for original music. The Contemporary Musicianship major focuses on song writing and music composition for visually-based media such as games, film and television, and advertising. Skills and knowledge in music composition are also transferable into theatre, visual arts, fashion and many other fields.
The major is suited to students with a deep interest in music composition and song writing, with a particular passion for music soundtracks for games, film and television.
