Social experience is being transformed with new forms of identity and new social problems emerging. This major provides an opportunity for students to sociologically explore their contemporary social worlds. How do social patterns shape who we are, what we can do, our access to resources, and the ways we make meaningful lives? How do we individually and collectively understand, act on and experience the social terrain we inhabit? This may be taken as an Open Major by students enrolled in any degree course of the University.
Students wishing to complete the 21 or 24 credit point major option will take additional unit(s) from the list of restricted choices to make up the balance of the required credit points.
Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Science must complete 24 credit points of units from this Major in addition to the unit 6607 Introductory Sociology.
Students in courses that do not include 6607 Introductory Sociology are required to complete this unit to complete the Major.
