Your support will help change lives.
The Student Empowerment Fund was introduced in 2020 for students who unexpectedly found themselves without a job, and experiencing sudden financial hardship due to the impact of COVID-19.
While COVID-19 is still impacting everyday life, the rise in the cost of living is resulting in more and more students presenting at a point of financial crisis. In the past two years alone, the Student Empowerment Fund has supported over 290 students with immediate financial support when they had nowhere else to turn.
To help students balance the rising cost of living with minimal impact on their study, UCX has developed a service called The Food Pantry. The UCX Food Pantry helps students by providing access to non-perishable food items, essential items for personal hygiene and household cleaning products. The service is free and uses a system that provides each student with access to 15 points per week which they can use to purchase items of their choice.
Over the holiday period, the staff at the UCX Food Pantry will be taking a well-deserved four-week break after an incredibly busy year, which is why we are seeking funds via the Student Empowerment Fund to support the creation of food hampers that will alleviate some of the pressures experienced by our students in need.
Your support will make a very real and tangible difference, with 100% of funds going directly to supporting UC students. All donations from $2 are tax deductible, and because of our wonderful friends at Service One Alliance Bank, all donations received between 28 November 2022 and 8 December 2022, up to the value of $5,000, will have double the impact.
