Why you should go to Open Day
By Hannah Mullins
If you're considering university, choosing the right one can feel like a big decision. With so many options available, it can be hard to know where to start. University open days give you the chance to explore your future study environment, chat with current students and staff, and discover what life at uni is really like. Whether you're finishing school, thinking about a career change, or planning your next step, an open day can help you feel more confident about the path ahead.
See what studying could actually look like
If you've been exploring different study options, Open Day gives you the chance to experience them for yourself. You can step into learning spaces, explore facilities and get a feel for the places where you'll spend your time.
It's also an opportunity to talk directly with the people who teach, lecture and research in the courses you're considering. They can help you understand what you'll learn, where the degree could take you and whether it's the right fit for your interests and goals.
Find your crowd. Whatever that looks like.
Gone are the days where open day was just for the people finishing school. At the UC Open Days, we ensure that every type of student can find a way to get that connection to uni. We know there's more to uni life than the degree, and we want to make sure you find that. Open Day is a great opportunity to start those connections, see what's possible and find your home at UC. With stalls, clubs, sporting teams and more around campus, you'll find fun and community that will last long past your graduation.
Get ahead before your first day
If you've already decided that UC is the right choice for you, Open Day is still well worth attending. You'll be able to see where your classes will be, what the campus looks like, how to navigate around and where to get the best latte. It's also an opportunity to meet your teachers, tour the student accommodation and just enjoy your day.
Discover support you may not know exists
Attending Open Day, you can meet the teams, services and communities that will support you throughout your university journey. You'll learn about the support available to help you succeed in your studies and wellbeing, from academic skills and careers advice to counselling and peer mentoring. You can also explore UC's student support services and connect with clubs, societies and other communities that help make campus feel like home.
Simply to enjoy a day out
Open Day isn't all about presentations and information sessions. It's also a chance to experience campus. Take a look around, enjoy the atmosphere, grab something to eat, listen to live music and explore what makes the university community unique. Whether you're actively considering your study options or just curious to see what campus is like, it's a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend the day while discovering something new. And if you're bringing parents, friends or kids along, there's plenty for them to see and do, while you discover why UC could be the right place for you.
