Prepare for a stellar career in Psychology
The Honours course in Psychology extends what you learned in the undergraduate degree about how and why people think, feel, and act the way they do.
The course will develop your understanding of the complexities of human behaviour, and the professional, ethical, and social contexts of the science and practice of psychology. As part of this course you will also conduct an independent research project that will be written as a thesis and may lead to publication.
This course is fully accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council.
On graduation you will be eligible for provisional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, which means you can then apply for entry into the Master of Clinical Psychology course.
Study a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at UC and you will:
- Gain advanced knowledge in psychological assessment and intervention, ethics, and research
- Conduct an independent research project, leading to a thesis
- Develop a sophisticated understanding of professional practice in psychology

Course specific information
Entry into the honours course requires completion of an APAC-accredited three-year undergraduate course in psychology, with a Distinction average in the psychology units.

Professional accreditation
This course is accredited by the Australian Psychological Accreditation Council (APAC) and approved by the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA).
This course has closing dates to submit applications that vary from standard UC application submission dates. For a semester 1 start, applications are due by the 31st October; for a semester 2 start, applications are due by 30th June.
Applicants must meet the following minimum entry requirements:
A) completion of a qualifying psychology degree which is accredited by the Australian Psychological Accreditation Council (APAC) or equivalent* within the last 10 years. The qualifying degree can be either:
i) a three year undergraduate psychology course or
ii) a Graduate Diploma for candidates who previously completed an undegraduate degree in a different discipline
B) Credit average in the APAC-required second and third year psychology units or graduate diploma units.
Entry is competitive. Applications are ranked by performance (GPA) in the APAC-required second and third year psychology / graduate diploma units. Thus, a higher than minimum GPA is generally needed to be offered a place.
* Equivalency is as determined by the Australian Psychological Society (APS)
