On the occasion, of the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of the Interim ACT Schools Authority in Canberra in 1973, Professor Shirley Randell AO delivered an excellent account of the origins and development of the Canberra school system from early community initiatives through to its establishment in 1973 and progress to 2023 in her lecture titled, Promises, Challenges and Progress: Fifty Years of the ACT Education System.

At the Annual Lecture, President of the Rotary Club of Belconnen Mr Wayne Jeffs, presented a scanner to the ANME to assist with the digitization of hundreds of items in our educational ephemera collection.
The ANME has recently opened a new exhibition in the Heritage Gallery of Building 5, displaying a variety of documents and artefacts acknowledging the academic and sporting talents and achievements of school and college students from the late nineteenth century to the mid twentieth century.
On the weekend of 8-11 September, the Telopea Park School in Canberra celebrated its Centenary, 1923-2023. It was the first public school building to be built by the newly established Federal Government in the Australian Capital Territory.
The ANME was host to a visit by members of the Women’s International Club, Canberra Subgroup “Australia A-Z” coordinated by former school Principal, Lindy Ross, on 11th May.
