Official launch of new campus marks UC’s expansion into North West Sydney

16 February 2023: The University of Canberra’s globally respected Bachelor of Nursing course is now being delivered at University of Canberra Sydney Hills (UCSH) in partnership with Education Centre of Australia (ECA).

The University’s expansion into North West Sydney was marked with an official opening at the new campus, where Vice-Chancellor Professor Paddy Nixon emphasised the importance of connecting with new regions.

“UC has a clear connection to Canberra. We also place important emphasis on our global and regional reach and presence, illustrated in part by our partnership with ECA, in order to reimagine our education offerings and meet the educational demands of Australia’s future workforce,” Professor Nixon said.

The campus is located in Castle Hill, north west of the Sydney CBD, close to major shopping centres, Castle Towers and Castle Mall, as well as cafes, restaurants and local shops, which will provide a range of services to support UCSH students.

This two-storey, purpose-built campus offers 2,000 square metres of teaching and study spaces, equipped with all the facilities and equipment needed for the delivery of a world-class nursing curriculum.

“Our industry partnerships with local and regional clinical placement facilities will provide UC Sydney Hills students with expert placement experiences, setting them up for a successful future in the local healthcare workforce,” Professor Nixon said.

ECA CEO Rupesh K. Singh said the partnership between the Centre and the University aims to deliver world-class nursing education for both local and international students.

“The investment we are making in The Hills will create jobs and help alleviate some of the skills shortages locally and regionally. This is the just the beginning of a significant operation and we are very grateful for the support of the University, The Hills Shire Council and partner healthcare providers,” Mr Singh said.

The Semester One, 2023 nursing cohort intake is limited to 60 students, with these smaller class sizes ensuring the delivery of highly personalised learning and support.

The campus is set to grow in years to come, with plans to introduce a variety of new courses delivered through the USCH.
