The future is in your hands: UC's Big Research Pitch 2020

Tuesday 20 October: Voting is now open for UC’s Big Research Pitch as seventeen Early Career Researchers vie to pitch their best ideas in just 90 seconds.

In 2020, UC’s flagship research communication event has been reimagined to be virtual and interactive. Participants have pitched their research on film and the public vote will determine the top five, who will present to a panel of judges in a live-streamed final and compete for up to $12,000 in seed funding.

“Our best and brightest early career researchers compete for research funding by pitching their ideas to you,” said Professor Leigh Sullivan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation. “These pitches showcase exciting and innovative research that offer solutions to real problems.”

“UC’s Big Research Pitch and the training program leading up to this event are designed to provide our early career researchers the opportunity to develop skills to present research projects in a persuasive and engaging way; essential skills for researchers to demonstrate the impact of their research to the wider community and to build a successful career.”

The public, industry, colleagues and students can vote for their favourite pitch where participants describe their research and its impact at Canberra.edu.au/bigresearchpitch. Voting is open until 25 October.

The top five finalists will take part in the Big UC Research Pitch Facebook Live Event on Thursday 29 October from 7.30pm via the @UniversityofCanberra Facebook Event. Tune in to hear the solutions to tomorrow’s problems.
