Amanda Jones

28 August 2015: More than 50 kilos of bacon, 900 eggs, 720 croissants and 30 crates of fresh fruit will be served at the University of Canberra's free big breakfast to kick-start this year's Open Day on Saturday 29 August.

Potential students and their families are invited to enjoy breakfast served by University of Canberra Capitals' mascot Cappie the Giraffe and ACT Brumbies' mascot Brumby Jack before exploring the campus to see what studying at the University of Canberra is like.

Open Day is a fantastic opportunity to find out about the wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses available at the University of Canberra – all designed to give students the skills and knowledge they need for a successful and rewarding career.

At the Academic Expo visitors can to talk to academics, course advisors and current students about the courses they're interested in, and attend one of the many interactive displays and demonstrations.

Support staff will also be on hand to discuss campus accommodation, academic skills support, how to apply and campus life.

There will be campus tours, forensic lab demonstrations, slime and liquid nitrogen experiments, and a chance for people to test their ball-handling skills using the Brumbies line-out machine or play football with Canberra United.

Visitors can also take part in an interactive nursing workshop, get hands-on experience in gaming technology or meet Instagram sensations and UC alumnae The Merrymaker Sisters and learn how to become an online star and launch your own website.

The University of Canberra Open Day will be held on Saturday 29 August from 9am-4pm.

The free big breakfast will be held on the Concourse from 9am-10.30am.
