6 January 2014: The University of Canberra's Zierholz @ UC was named Venue of the Year for 2013 at the MusicACT Annual Music Awards (MAMAs).
Zierholz @UC was nominated by MusicACT along with 71 other venues across the nation's capital and at the awards ceremony on 23 November last year they beat out their competitors to win the publically voted category.

Across all the University of Canberra's venues there have been 59 shows throughout the year, 10 of which were sold-out. Seven of those sold-out shows were held at Zierholz @ UC, including an intimate live performance by New Zealand artist Lorde who ruled the Hot 100 Billboard chart for nine weeks in a row with her song 'Royals'.
Anna Wallace, managing and programming director at UC Live!, said the team were happy to win, with the Refectory also being nominated in that category.
"It was very exciting to win," Ms Wallace said. "We've put in some long hours and a pretty massive effort this year, so it was really nice to be recognised for that."
More MAMAs recognition for the University came in an award for best rock band going to Elisha Bones, whose drummer Rhys Lintern is an education student. They tied for the title with the band Super Best Friends whose three members are University alumni. Cover band Party Gravy also won an award for best ACT cover band, who make up part of the popular Ruckus Crew that play at University of Canberra Brumbies games.
