UC Capitals farewell Australian Opals star Stephanie Talbot

2 August 2016: The University of Canberra Capitals will be without Stephanie Talbot for the upcoming WNBL season with the forward informing the club that she will play this season in Europe.

The 22-year-old who averaged 11 points and seven rebounds a game with the UC Capitals last season signed with Polish team AZS PWSZ Gorzow Wielkopolski today.

University of Canberra Capitals head coach Paul Goriss said Talbot has made a name for herself since joining the club two years ago and hopes to one day see her back in a UC Capitals uniform.

"Steph's growth as a player can be attributed to her hard work, determination and selflessness. Her time at the UC Caps has seen her develop into one of the best defenders not only in the WNBL but internationally as well," Goriss said.

"The UC Capitals are proud of Steph's achievements and what she has given to the club. We're thrilled to see Steph make her Olympic debut and will be cheering for her in Rio."

Both Talbot and UC Capitals centre Marianna Tolo will represent Australia at the Rio Olympics with their first game being played against Brazil, the home team on 7 August.
