Awardees of the 2023 UC Teaching Awards & Citations

Deborah Pino Pasternak - Citation Winner

It is with sincere pleasure that we congratulate Associate Professor Deborah Pino Pasternak, from the Faculty of Education, as the Winner for the University of Canberra Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. A/Prof. Pino Pasternak's citation is for 'enhancing the research capability of teachers and educational leaders in Canberra and the region'. The Awards Selection Committee were particularly impressed by A/Prof. Pino Pasternak's strong student-centered approach, with a clear teaching philosophy and demonstrable links to UC's values. It is a pleasure to see such a wonderful initiative that empowers students so well and also furthers UC's mission as a university that contributes to the local community.

Adrian Dusting - Citation Commendation 

We would also like to acknowledge Dr Adrian Dusting, from the Faculty of Science and Technology, for a Commendation for the University of Canberra Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. Dr Dusting's commendation is for 'innovation in the delivery and assessment of the innovation in the delivery and assessment of the numeracy-based units underpinning science education at UC, which has resulted in enhanced learning outcomes and student experience. The Award's Selection Committee were pleased to see such a clear and innovative impact on student learning and employability.

The ITS Capstone Program Team - Program Award Commendation

We are pleased to announce that the ITS Capstone Program Team, from the Faculty of Science and Technology, was awarded a Commendation for the University of Canberra Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning. Associate Professor Ahmed Imran,  Associate Professor Mohammad Abualsheikh, and Assistant Professor Richa Awasthy are to be commended for the design and delivery of industry-orientated education through collaborative partnerships, aligned with the University’s mission of producing industry-ready graduates. It is wonderful to see an initiative that has proven sustainability over time and contributes well to the capabilities of our students.
