Record crowd attends UC’s Course Advice Day

17 January 2017: The University of Canberra’s 2017 Course Advice Day attracted a record number of prospective students, with more than 1,200 visitors attending the annual event.

School-leavers and prospective mature age students flocked to the University on 5 January to explore the study options available to them.

The University’s Director of Student Administration, Scott Nichols, said the event gave prospective students a taste of what life is like at the University.

“Course Advice Day is a great way for students who have received an offer, are awaiting an offer, or considering applying to find out more about the range of course and units available at the University of Canberra,” Mr Nichols said.

“It also helps people learn about the University’s support services, pathway programs, accommodation and anything else they need to know to make their final decision.”

Attendees who had already received an offer to study at the University received assistance accepting their offer or enrolling in units before the beginning of Semester One on 13 February.

Catherine Gray, who received an early offer to study a Bachelor of Environment Science at the University, said the day was a fantastic way for her to learn about her options before classes start.

“I definitely wanted to ask a few questions but I didn’t know when I could ask them, so this day has been very helpful,” Ms Gray said.

For Brandon Davenport, it was his first time experiencing campus life. He’s already looking forward to returning to study pharmacy.

“It was great being able to talk to the staff because they were able to answer the questions I had about some of the courses,” he said.

The University has a number of pathway programs available for students who did not obtain an ATAR but are interested in studying. Visit the Don’t Panic website for more information.
