This unit aims to develop the knowledge necessary for effective assessment and exercise treatment of special populations (pregnancy, ageing, children) and patients with specific chronic diseases and disorders including renal, metabolic, cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, mental health, and immunological. Students will evaluate the pathophysiology of these conditions/disorders and exam the role of exercise rehabilitation in the management of these conditions.
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the pathophysiology of selected ESSA target pathologies and conditions; and
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate selection, safe implementation and delivery of appropriate assessments and exercise based rehabilitation interventions for selected ESSA target pathologies (metabolic, renal, cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, immunological) and special populations (pregnancy, ageing, children).

Learning outcomes
