Required texts
There is no required text book for this unit and therefore it is essential that students attend lectures or follow lectures on ECHO360 so as to acquaint themselves with concepts and arguments that will give them an understanding of material that will form the basis of presentation topics and exam questions.
Equally, students must attend tutorials due to the nature of group assessments.
Various readings and book chapters will be placed on the Canvas "Readings" tab.
Submission of assessment items
Assessment Requirements
All assessment items must be attempted/submitted. Failure to submit all assessment items will result in a fail grade.
Students must apply academic integrity in their learning and research activities at UC. This includes submitting authentic and original work for assessments and properly acknowledging any sources used.
Academic integrity involves the ethical, honest and responsible use, creation and sharing of information. It is critical to the quality of higher education. Our academic integrity values are honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility and courage.
UC students have to complete the Academic Integrity Module annually to learn about academic integrity and to understand the consequences of academic integrity breaches (or academic misconduct).
UC uses various strategies and systems, including detection software, to identify potential breaches of academic integrity. Suspected breaches may be investigated, and action can be taken when misconduct is found to have occurred.
Information is provided in the Academic Integrity Policy, Academic Integrity Procedure, and University of Canberra (Student Conduct) Rules 2023. For further advice, visit Study Skills.
Participation requirements
Students are strongly encouraged to attend lectures in person. Lectures are recorded and placed Online via an automated process the lecturer has no control of this process. At times this automated process does not work properly resulting in lack of audio or video for a lecture. Engaging in lecture material is expected through attendance at lectures, through listening to lecture online recordings, or both. Tutorial attendance is expected. Non-attendance to tutorials is likely to diminish a student's ability to meet unit learning objectives, and will likely impair assessment performance. Tutorial attendance records will be kept and can be used as evidence of individual student engagement with the unit. It is expected that students will work through the online component of this course in a timely fashion.
Information will be placed on Canvas as a way of helping students to understand lecture material. This does not replace material covered in lectures. The experience of past years shows a direct positive relationship between lecture attendance numbers and pass grade numbers.
