Special assessment requirements
Hurdle Requirements:
The hurdle requirement within this unit is a compulsory aspect or component of the studies that must be complied with in order for you to be eligible to receive a pass grade. Hurdle requirements vary from course to course and are identified for the specific subject in the curriculum documentation. Hurdle requirements ensure that you are engaged with the full range of learning outcomes required for successful knowledge transfer during the course. The hurdle requirements for this subject of study are:
- Students must complete and submit all pieces of assessment.
- Students must achieve at least 50% in assessments 1 and 2
- Students may not proceed to assessment 2 unless they achieve a Pass grade or higher in assessment 1.
- Students must complete the marketing plan that was started in assessment 1.
- Students must achieve a minimum of 40% mark in the final examination
- and
An overall ‘Pass' grade in the unit (= 50%+)
Students must apply academic integrity in their learning and research activities at UC. This includes submitting authentic and original work for assessments and properly acknowledging any sources used.
Academic integrity involves the ethical, honest and responsible use, creation and sharing of information. It is critical to the quality of higher education. Our academic integrity values are honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility and courage.
UC students have to complete the Academic Integrity Module annually to learn about academic integrity and to understand the consequences of academic integrity breaches (or academic misconduct).
UC uses various strategies and systems, including detection software, to identify potential breaches of academic integrity. Suspected breaches may be investigated, and action can be taken when misconduct is found to have occurred.
Information is provided in the Academic Integrity Policy, Academic Integrity Procedure, and University of Canberra (Student Conduct) Rules 2023. For further advice, visit Study Skills.
Additional information
Hurdle Requirements:
Please refer to section 5d above.
Special consideration
Applications for an extension to the due date for submission of an assessment item on the grounds of illness or other unavoidable and verifiable personal circumstances (that is, special consideration) should be submitted via email to the unit convener.
Each application for an extension has to be supported by appropriate documentation. For advice on documentary evidence to support applications for extensions, please refer to the Deferred Examination Policy https://guard.canberra.edu.au/policy/policy.php?pol_id=3176.
"Students should apply for extensions before the due submission date, and are advised to do so as early as possible. Applications after the due submission date may be considered only in exceptional circumstances" Assessment Procedures 3.22.
In the case of any student who has provided a medical certificate in support of special consideration and is unable to submit that work on/at an agreed time, then that student must make immediate contact with the unit co-ordinator as soon as practicable. This contact will determine whether that assessment item is to be continued or another optional item is commenced. This consensus process will then determine whether the final mark contributes to the final exam. That is, the responsibility of completing a late assessment item then remains with the student(s).
Penalties for late submission or non-completion of mandatory assessment
This section only refers to students who have not been granted an extension (see above).
Students who do not submit assignments on time will be penalized 5% of the marks of the assignment per day or part day (please see above – 5b).
Students who do not submit an assignment within seven [7] days of the deadline will be given a mark of 0 for the item.
Students who do not attempt the examination will automatically fail the unit.
