Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:1. Analyse clinical case scenarios formulated around specific pathophysiological processes across the life span;
2. Discuss manifestations associated with altered health states across the life span; and
3. Critically analyse the impact that specific disease processes have on the homeostasis of the body.

To achieve the learning objectives of this unit it is important that you have read widely to participate in the tutorials actively (or equivalent) before attending lectures and tutorials. Research widely to find readings to support your learning.
Texts are available for purchase from the Co-op Bookstore, publisher online and for short term loan from the University Library. Co-op will price match if students show them another price. The UC Library provides free information sessions and on-line tutorials regarding accessing appropriate reading sources for academic pursuits. See the Library website for details.
Recommended Online Resources
There are a number of online resources available to facilitate your study, for example, Khan Academy, handwritten tutorials.com. Purchasing the prescribed textbook gives you access the "Evolve" website, which can be used as an adjunct to your studies. There will be readings and chat time availability on Canvas.

All assessment items will be undertaken in exam conditions on campus. No assessment items are required to be undertaken or submitted via the units Canvas site.
Special assessment requirements
To obtain and overall pass grade for this unit, students must:
- attempt all assessment items, and
- obtain an aggregate mark of 50%

Participation requirements
It is highly recommended that students participate in all lectures and tutorials. Assessment items are closely linked to content covered in lectures and tutorials. Tutorial content will only be available during tutorial time and aside from tutorial pre-work and review questions, will not be posted on Canvas.
