In this unit students will learn the aetiology, pathophysiology, and therapeutic principles of complex diseases and disorders. They will advance in their knowledge gained from pre-requisite units and apply it consistently and appropriately in variety of clinical scenarios. Students will consolidate their knowledge and demonstrate work-readiness through self-assessment, reflection, and designing comprehensive clinical management plans and/or health educational materials.
1. Scrutinise constituents of the aetiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, drug management and monitoring of the disease states covered;
2. Critique and supplement principles of evidence-based medicine to therapeutic contexts; and
3. Create and judge the effectiveness of comprehensive management plans that consider individual patient needs, with consideration of knowledge gained from pre-requisite units.
